Interior II, 2016

“Interior II” is the second piece in the Interior series. This set of sound installations is characterized by making use of sound spatialization and darkness in order to intensify the listener's psychoacoustic and social experience.

This work takes place in a space completely graded in black cloth and barely illuminated by a dim light. It was made in collaboration with several people who were invited to record their voice, expressing without time or content restrictions, their feelings about the current state of the country at the time. The resulting recordings were lengthened up to four hundred times. The outcome is an enveloping vocal mass that refers to a choral requiem.

“Interior II” was commissioned by the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo in a 22-channel version for Espacio Sonoro, curated by Marco Morales.

The pieces in this series have been presented at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City and at the Centro Cultural de España in Mexico.
