Interior III

Interior III, 2017

“Interior III” is the third piece of the series Interior, a set of sound installations that employ sound spatialization and darkness with the purpose of intensifying the psychoacoustic and social experience of the listener.

This work’s performance has limited capacity in which the visitors are invited to sit on a grid marked on the floor and to cover their heads with a black cloth bag during the duration of the piece. The distancing between people as well as the cancellation of visual elements aims to enhance the listening and increase the flow of mental images.

In order to generate an immersive experience, the piece is reproduced on four channels and accompanied by an ambulatory audio system that circulates around the audience.

The musical composition was made simulating a journey in which the sound of the footsteps lead the listener through a sordid soundscape built with documentary material and recordings found on the deep web.

“Interior III” was commissioned by Substrata and presented at the Centro Cultural de España in Mexico City. The parts of this series have been shown at Museo de Arte Moderno de la Ciudad de México and Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo, MUAC.
