Feedback bouquet, 2007 rev. 2018

This piece, along with Entropía, Aplausos, Medios vacíos and Sonata cromática, encompasses a period of critical and conceptual exploration of the mass media and the spectacle’s forms of manipulation.

Feedback bouquet consists of a cluster of microphones placed on an illuminated pedestal in the room. By analyzing the acoustic and frequency characteristics of the space, the piece is generated by enhancing the feedback frequencies present in the audio system.

To achieve this, a real-time control matrix is used that constantly opens, closes and modifies the amplitude and filtering frequency of each microphone. This is done to avoid oversaturating the audio and to create a fabric of different tones that are always in motion.

The work reflects on the saturation and alienation of media discourse as well as its lack of meaning.

Conceived in 2007, it was finally presented in the Resurrección de la materia exhibition curated by Carlos Prieto for the museum Ex Teresa Arte Actual in April 2018.
