About Rogelio Sosa
Rogelio Sosa's cultural production has been key in the development of contemporary artistic practices, particularly those based on time and listening. Since his training in the field of music, electroacoustic composition and improvisation with various technological means, he nourished the curiosity that led him to experiment with the possibilities of sound without disciplinary limits. The body of work he has produced for nearly two decades can be examined through four main areas: composition, the performing arts, improvisation and spatial displays.
Another fundamental approach in his career are the multiple collaborations with different artists and cultural agents that add another layer to the complexity of this composer, creator, cultural agent and artist.

Biography
Rogelio Sosa (Mexico City, 1977) is a musician, artist and experimental music promoter. His artistic practice includes instrumental and electroacoustic compositions, improvisation projects, audiovisual and stage collaborations, as well as performances and sound installations. His most recent work is based on sound experimentation with electronic media and is syncretically nourished by concepts and elements from ritual and ceremonial practices of various cultures.
He studied composition with Julio Estrada and Ignacio Baca Lobera in Mexico. Abroad he studied electronic music at the Ateliers Upic and at the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique / Musique (IRCAM) in Paris. In 2003 he obtained a master's degree in music and technology at the University of Paris VIII.
Since 2005 he has lived in Mexico City. He was programmer and sub director of the Radar Festival from 2005 to 2007 as well as director from 2007 to 2009. He was curator of sound art at Ex Teresa Arte Actual from 2005 to 2007. Since 2010 he is director and programmer of the Aural Festival in Mexico City, having directed seven editions of this festival to this day. He has taught classes, courses, workshops and seminars in more than 30 universities, schools and cultural centers. His work has been presented in more than 50 cities around the world and has been published on the Bocian Records (Poland), Mode Records and Important Records (United States) and Sub Rosa (Belgium).
Among the most important awards and distinctions he has received are the Sistema Nacional de Creadores, FONCA (2012 and 2016), Premio Nacional de la Juventud en Artes (Mexico, 2000), the SCRIME Electroacoustic Music Contest (Bordeaux, France, 2000), the IMEB Electroacoustic Music Contest (Bourges, France, 2001), the New Resonances Prize (Mexico, 2001), the Luigi Russolo Electroacoustic Music Contest (Varese, Italy, 2002), the EAR Electroacoustic Music Competition (Budapest, Hungary, 2003), Apoyo a la Producción e Investigación en Arte y Medios del Centro Multimedia (Mexico, 2006) and the Visiones Sonoras award (Mexico, 2008), the artistic residency at the Montalvo Arts Center (California, 2009), the artistic residency at the EMS Studio in Stockholm (Sweden, 2014) and the support of the Programa de Fomento de las Músicas Iberoamericanas IBERMÚSICAS (2019).
